I don't get that either, PP.
I've always dug SS, AWA appreciated his contribution to the art AWA music in general.

I dunno, I've always tended to give another player the benefit of the doubt [ESP at this level]...unlless they were so ridiculously overplaying or just flat-out terrible that it was extremely, unbearably, & annoyingly obvious [& maybe full of themselves to boot]...little story - i went to a "Drum Off" competition [best drummer in the area] back in the late 80's, & aft a couple of decent players, & 1 really accomplished one, this poor sap got up & sounded like he'd been playing for maybe a month & a half...you know, RH 8th's on ride, BD on 1 + / 3 +; SD on 2 / a of 2 / e of 3 / 4...over & over...OK, now will do it for 1000 bars again, RH on the HH now [LF non=existent], time rushing all over the place...it was really embarrassing, & what's worse, the guy didn't even know it - he was oblivious.

Now I'm in no way ragging on beginners, because we were all this once, but you have to know when & where, & what TIME to venture out. A little humility goes a lonnnnnng way...OK, I digress...

He is a fine player, one who's respected by both listeners AND players of all instruments alike, & one who's been on a lot of recordings, clinics, & in quite a few notable bands [Montrose, Vital Info, JLPonty, Bryan Adams, Tony MacA, Buddy's Buddies, 'supergroup' w Allan H/Stan Clarke/Herbie H, & Jeff Berlin, Scott Henderson, T Lavitz, to name but a few...], NTM being a 'regular' long time member in one of the biggest & most successful long-running arena pop-rock acts of all time, Journey]. 'One could wish the kind of success & accolades he's had as a player.'
